Community

As the largest employer in the region, Emory defines community engagement as purposeful, measurable, community engaging efforts that are aligned with our university vision, mission and institutional values. Where there are common strengths, interests and alignment, we aspire to address local societal challenges that leverage strategic community partnerships locally and globally.

These efforts can be any of a diverse set of actions (e.g. volunteering, board service, research, internships, service learning, etc.) that drive a positive social impact. Emory will ensure the intentional use of our human capital (e.g. faculty, staff, students, alumni) and economic influence (e.g. local buying, hiring, investing) by focusing them in a clear way, on the greatest need areas based on internal and external community feedback, that can be measured over time.
