Men's basketball to host opening rounds of NCAA D-III Championship

Emory’s men’s basketball team finished the season with a 21-4 record, which earned them the right to host the first two rounds of 2020 NCAA Division III championship play.

The No. 12 ranked Emory Eagles will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championships at the Woodruff P.E. Center this weekend.

Games begin Friday, March 6, at 5 p.m. with Centre College against Pomona-Pitzer. The Eagles follow when they take on Methodist University at 7 p.m. The winners will play each other on Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m.

Emory finished the regular season with a 21-4 record (11-3 in the University Athletic Association). Their win over the University of Rochester last weekend combined with Washington University's loss at Chicago to allow the Eagles to tie Washington for the UAA title. Emory earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA D-III Tournament because of the team’s two wins over Washington this season.

This is the second consecutive year and fourth in the past six seasons that Emory has won or shared the UAA conference crown. The 21 regular-season wins are fourth most in school history and the 11 victories in UAA league play tie the team’s second-highest total.

General admission tickets (cash only) for the NCAA games are $12; tickets for students (with ID), senior citizens and children (2-12) are $7. Children under 2 get in free.
