Emory's Board of Trustees adopts new governing documents

The Board of Trustees has approved new governing documents for Emory University to align with best governance practices.

The articles of incorporation and bylaws were first adopted in 1915 and have been modified many times since then. In order to better reflect current practices at Emory and conform to modern corporate governance practices, the board has adopted a restatement of each document. The updated versions are more concise and consistent with best practices.

The trustees govern Emory by establishing policy and exercising fiduciary responsibility for the long-term well-being of the institution. The governing documents can be found online here.
