Thursday webinar from National Academies highlights disaster preparedness, resilience for research community

The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine will host a webinar on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. for the public release of its report "Strengthening the Disaster Resilience of the Academic Biomedical Research Community — Protecting the Nation's Investment."

The new report reviews how past disasters, such as hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, affected academic institutions, faculty and research projects. It also recommends potential actions to mitigate the impact of future disasters — including man-made and natural disasters — and cyber attacks on research facilities.

Dr. Alex Isakov, professor of emergency medicine and executive director of Emory's Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response, served on the committee and will be a panelist for the presentation.
