Take a pledge to support the Great American Smokeout on Nov. 17

The 2016 Great American Smokeout is Thursday, Nov. 17. The American Cancer Society started this national event to encourage tobacco cessation by establishing an official quit day.

Emory will celebrate the Great American Smokeout by encouraging all employees to be even more healthy by spreading the word of our tobacco cessation programs and resources, online tobacco education webinars and highlighting employee support/words of motivation. In addition, each employee will be called to take action by taking a pledge to quit smoking or to give up one of their own not so healthy behaviors.

All employees are encouraged to take a pledge in support of the Great American Smokeout. Current smokers can pledge to try quitting on the official quit day. Non-smokers can also take the pledge to give up one of their own unhealthy behavior or habits in support of family, friends and colleagues who are trying to quit.

Anyone who takes the pledge by noon on Nov. 17, whether they are a smoker or non-smoker, will be entered into a drawing to win one of two FitBit Altas. You can take the pledge here.
