Emory Healthcare is inviting people to participate in several heart-related activities during February's American Heart Month to help raise awareness surrounding this common disease.

On-line Web Chat

Emory Healthcare is hosting a web chat to discuss heart disease among women. Emory physicians participate in chats on a regular basis, connecting   live on the Web with members of the community who can join to ask questions and learn more about important health issues.

Heart Disease Among Women – Emory Women’s Heart Center cardiologist M. Carolina Gongora, MD, will host the live chat on Feb. 23 from 12-1 p.m. EST. She will answer questions and educate participants on heart disease risk factors, symptoms, prevention and treatments for women.

“Heart to Heart” Celebration for Heart Transplant Recipients

Emory heart transplant recipients from Emory University Hospital and Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital will gather for the 27th Annual Heart-to-Heart event on Saturday, Feb. 20. Patients, along with their families and health care providers, will reunite to celebrate their fight against heart disease, cardiomyopathy and other heart conditions that brought them to the Emory Transplant Center for care.

Emory Women’s Heart Center 10,000 Women Screening Initiative

Through a new cardiovascular screening program called 10,000 Women, the Emory Women’s Heart Center hopes to improve the heart health of African-American women in Metro Atlanta. Both screening participants and volunteers are needed to help with this important project. To host a screening or volunteer for an upcoming event, including five events scheduled in February and early March, please visit: www.emoryhealthcare.org.
