Oxford 5K to benefit Michael J. Fox Foundation

The Oxford College Center for Healthful Living (CHL) has announced that this year's 5K and one-mile fun run will serve as a fundraiser to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) for Parkinson's Research.

The run, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, at 8 a.m., will be a Team Fox event — the first of its kind in the area.

All proceeds will benefit MJFF, the world's largest non-profit funder of Parkinson's research, whose goal is to end the disease by finding a cure through aggressively funded research and to help develop therapies for those living with Parkinson's disease.

Sponsored by the CHL, the annual fun run has been a staple of Oxford College's Family Weekend for the past three years, among a range of fun, engaging and informative activities designed for the entire family.

Registrations completed before Oct. 24 will be $30 for the 5K and $15 for the one-mile fun run. Registration on the day of the event will be $35 for the 5K and $20 for the one-mile fun run.

Current Oxford students may pay a discounted rate of $10 for either the 5K or the fun run. The event will be timed and all participants will receive a t-shirt.

Register online. For more information, contact Oxford College Assistant Athletic Director Pete Sherrard at 770-784-4796 or psherra@emory.edu.
