Emory sends letter to Georgia delegation on government shutdown

Members of the Emory Community:

Emory University sent a letter to each member of the Georgia congressional delegation this week about the partial government shutdown. Emory Woodruff Health Sciences Center CEO Wright Caughman outlined how the prolonged partial shutdown of the federal government, combined with the federal funding cuts known as sequestration, is having short and long term impacts on biomedical research.

"Emory is communicating the effects of the shutdown to our congressional delegation, our higher education and research colleagues, and our community," stated Cameron Taylor, director of federal affairs for Emory.  "Please consider sharing your views with your member of Congress from your district and your two United States senators.  We hope this letter will assist in those efforts, either as an attachment, or as a model for individual letters."
