Religion and Ethics

Brent Strawn has shared views with national broadcast audiences on topics ranging from Old Testament prophecy to the concept of happiness in scripture.  

An associate professor of Old Testament at Emory's Candler School of Theology, Strawn has a special interest in ancient Near Eastern iconography, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Israelite religion, comparative Semitic philology, legal traditions of the Old Testament, and Old Testament theology.  

Strawn serves on the editorial board of the Catholic Biblical Quarterly and is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. He is editor of "The Bible and the Pursuit of Happiness: What the Old and New Testaments Teach Us About the Good Life" (Oxford University Press, 2012) and co-editor of the Common English Bible (2010), which strives to make the Bible more accessible through easy readability.
