Atlanta community supports call for critical blood donations

ATLANTA - In collaboration with the American Red Cross and St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Emory Healthcare and Emory University are co-hosting a blood drive on April 6 and 7 to address the critical need for blood in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Atlanta community has responded to this need with great urgency, as all appointment slots for this drive are currently filled. Walk-ins are still welcome, in the event of no-shows.

WHEN: April 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

St. Thomas More is doing its part to ensure social distancing at its location. Health care professionals assisting with blood donations will wear protective equipment, and all blood drive attendees will be socially distanced by at least six feet. The Red Cross also created an infographic to improve blood donor awareness and safety. Donors can save time by registering their health information in advance through RapidPass at www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.
