Adults and students of all ages became robotic surgeons for a day as they experienced the Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital robotics program during the Sandy Springs Education Force's STEAM Showcase (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics). Emory Saint Joseph's joined more than 40 area businesses and education leaders at the North Springs Charter High School event featuring engaging, interactive exhibits that also highlighted future career possibilities for students in several STEAM fields.

Visitors had the hands-on opportunity to operate an Intuitive da Vinci surgical system used by surgeons completing minimally-invasive robotic surgery. Sherry Rogers, program director of Emory Saint Joseph's Robotics Program, shared information with more than 2000 students as well as several hundred community members about the wide variety of cardiothoracic, urological, gynecological, oncology and general procedures performed at Emory Saint Joseph's.
