Sign up by Thursday to get 2015 tax forms online

Emory employees must register by Thursday, Jan. 14, in order to receive tax forms online. This is a secure, efficient way to ensure that you get your tax forms in the quickest way possible.

Two forms will be available online this year: The standard employee W-2 Form, and a new document, Form 1095-C, which is related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The ACA includes an individual mandate that requires that you have health care coverage or potentially face a fine. If you are an Emory University employee who is eligible for health care coverage, you will receive Form 1095-C in addition to your W-2 Form. This form serves as documentation of your eligibility for health care coverage. Emory’s health care coverage meets ACA standards.

Even if you have previously signed up to get your W-2 Form electronically, you will still need to go in and sign up to get your 1095-C Form. You do not have to file the health care form with your 2015 tax return, but you should keep it in your records in case you are audited.

Full directions for how to register for online tax forms are available on Emory Human Resources' 2015 Taxes page, including an instructional video. Registering for this service will also allow you to go back and reprint the forms later. If you have questions, contact the Emory University Payroll Department at 404-727-6100.

If you do not register, you will receive your tax forms in the U.S. mail. Please note that these forms will not be sent together, but separately. The mailing process will also take longer and is less secure.
