Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital is hosting a special talk titled "The Challenges of the Primary Caregiver," on Sept. 10, featuring guest speaker Charles Livingston. As the primary caregiver for his wife Carol, a survivor of several strokes and former patient at Emory's Center for Rehabilitative Medicine, Livingston will share many real-life experiences, and how he has managed the change in roles and lifestyle.

When patients return home from the hospital, friends and family members serving as caregivers often find their responsibilities rewarding, yet challenging. Livingston will discuss informative tips on the role of the primary caregiver, including the signs and symptoms of stroke, the importance of educating yourself about medications, helping the stroke survivor with bathing, eating, dressing and many other activities.

Admission is free, and the talk will be held in the Emory Saint Joseph's Auditorium, Ground Floor from 1 to 2 p.m., Sept. 10. For more information, contact 678-843-6182.
