Emory University Hospital Midtown is opening its second outpatient diagnostic imaging center to better serve patients, this one located in McDonough, Ga. The center offers MRI, CT and diagnostic X-ray imaging services closer to home for patients living on the south side of Atlanta, while replicating Emory Healthcare’s excellence in quality and services.

Emory University Hospital Midtown engaged Alliance Imaging, a division of Alliance HealthCare Services, Inc., to work collaboratively with the hospital in the design of the imaging center, as well as the day-to-day management and operation of the 4,000 square foot center. This includes competitive and process improvement support, patient/physician satisfaction and providing radiology equipment for the center. Emory University Hospital Midtown chose Alliance for its expertise in providing imaging services and developing imaging centers.

“Combined with Emory’s expertise in clinical services, this model allows a more convenient, quality experience for patients,” says Dane Peterson, CEO of Emory University Hospital Midtown. "We are hopeful this center will provide a new imaging option for people who live and work in the Southern Crescent."

Emory opened its first outpatient imaging center in collaboration with Alliance in October 2012 in Buford, Ga. The services are similar to those in McDonough. Both imaging centers fall under the outpatient radiology operations at Emory University Hospital Midtown.

"We are excited to expand our relationship with a world class organization like Emory Healthcare," says Larry C. Buckelew, chairman of the board and interim chief executive officer of Alliance HealthCare Services. "This new imaging center project in McDonough, Ga., is an excellent example of the Enhanced Value Proposition that Alliance offers hospitals and healthcare groups for a broad array of imaging and oncology services."
